Amanda Nunes Reveals What She Said To Ronda Rousey In The Octagon

Friday 30 December 2016 was supposed to be the night that Ronda Rousey made her triumphant return to the UFC octagon. Looking to reclaim the bantamweight title she lost in spectacular fashion to Holly Holm in 2015, all the talk before the fight was that Rousey was in better shape than ever. Sadly however, professional sport has no time for romance, and the fairytale comeback was delivered a shattering blow within the fight's first minute. For those of you who didn't see it, Rousey got Read more...

While Maddy was at the top of one of her climbs, Luis's friends quietly appeared down below where they turned off all the lights and quickly decorated the gym with rose petals and string lights. Here's an ancient philosophy so simple even a 5-year-old could understand it

The great Richard Feynman said that if someone can't explain something simply to a novice -- at the freshman lecture level -- it's because they don't actually understand it themselves. This is not only a true statement but it's also passing indictment of most of academia. I would argue that it also happens to indict most of what's described as of "philosophy" today. Something like physics is complicated by nature of that fact that it often requires the understandings of several other fields Read more...

I'm A 16-Year-Old Photographer Who Loves To Capture Small, But Beautiful Mountains Near My Home In Slovakia

When I was child, my parents took me hiking to High Tatras. I was amazed by the beauty of the mountains we have. When I was 10, I bought my first digital compact camera which I've used to document my hiking adventures for over two years. After those two years, I realized that it's not enough anymore, so bought my first DSLR camera. It was used Nikon D200 with a second hand kit lens. Since then, I've been able to shoot photos with sufficient technical quality. Now I'm 16 and I spend most of Read more...

Ford's new self-driving Fusion looks like a actual car

If you pull up alongside a self-driving car today, you'll probably know it immediately - bulky external sensors make most of the current models logging test miles for Waymo, Chevy and others stick out on the streets like a sore thumb. There are a few less goofy-looking models on the road with autopilot features, like the Audi R7, but they're not so prevalent. But if you run into one of the brand-new, next-gen driverless Ford Fusion Hybrids in the coming months, you might never notice it's Read more...

Lovely cast aluminum and brass science fiction sculptures

Scott Nelles is a Wisconsin sculptor who works in cast brass and aluminum, making beautiful, whimsical pieces with a strong science fictional flare tinged with strealined dieselpunk. I just bought a couple of his pieces from a dealer at a local flea market and I couldn't be more pleased with the sculpts and the craftsmanship in the casting and little grace notes, like the removable astronauts and aliens in the spacecraft and the working trigger on the raygun. How leveraging data can create a safer, smarter city

However, with 54% of the world's population living in urban areas today, and the addition of another 2.5 billion people to cities expected by 2050, achieving this goal has never been more challenging. Urban environments present unique safety challenges including higher density populations and corresponding close proximity of people and hazards. Nonetheless, there is cause for optimism that human ingenuity can rise up and meet the challenge of Read more...

VR Let Me Meet My Daughter Before She Was Born

A while ago I got an idea: how awesome would it be to use 4D ultrasound to scan my unborn baby and make a VR experience of that. So I talked my girlfriend over even though the idea felt a bit weird and almost scary. How to make it happen? I searched for similar cases online, but couldn't find any. All I could find was some examples of using ultrasound images for a 3D print of your unborn baby. So this was the first time in the world someone was doing this. Luckily I got people at the Aava Read more...

Orange and Vanilla Hot Buttered Rum

Every winter, I'm surprised by how many people have never had a hot buttered rum. This is a classic American cocktail that dates back to colonial times, and it's as much a part of Christmas as eggnog or peppermint hot chocolate. More people need to know how good this cocktail can be! To help spread the word, hot buttered rums have become my standard contribution to holiday parties and potlucks. Everyone Is Falling In Love With The Mall of America's First Black Santa
